Stick figures and 'ugly' trees are very welcome to appear during an Art Works session.
You don't have to be good at art to make great use of art in therapy and life. Art therapy uses visual representation to express what may seem 'inexpressible', and sometimes, that's not 'pretty'. What is more important is the impact that art therapy has on your spirit, soul, and body. Art therapy takes the things inside a person, that may not have words, and puts them on the outside for you to explore. Interpretation and judgement is up to the person...but honesty of the therapist to the client is also a key element to finding relief.
'The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.' -Aristotle
